Recently, the Ametller Origen group has flooded the media with a narrative that victimises it. According to the company’s complaint, the gathering on 28 February at GR5 resulted in "vandalic acts" at the construction site of the Agroparc. This news diverts attention from the real destruction of the territory that we are witnessing and points to the StopAgroparc platform as a possible author of the events.
Neither organisers nor authors: a false connection
The platform StopAgroparc firmly denies any participation or responsibility in the alleged reported events. We want to be clear: our entity neither organised nor called for the walk last Saturday, nor does it have anything to do with any alleged vandalic act that may have occurred. Any attempt to link our movement with these supposed actions is a biased interpretation that does not reflect reality.
The trap of the plural: the "ghost platforms"
In its statement, Ametller Origen insists on attributing the events to the "opposing platforms", always in the plural. This lexical triad is not anecdotal: it generates confusion in public opinion by pointing to StopAgroparc, which is the only collective opposed to the Agroparc that constitutes itself as a platform.
But even more: by speaking of 'platforms' in general, the statement paints the image of a network of radical organisations. The reality is that although StopAgroparc is the only entity that stands up to them in court, it is not the only one opposing it. The existence of other groups and campaigns demonstrates that the rejection of the project is diverse and growing. The use of this abstract plural criminalises the movements as a whole and tarnishes the reputation of any voice that is critical of the Agroparc project.
Accusations without evidence or verification
Ametller Origin of the report of material damage, but so far no media outlet has verified this information. Most have not even contacted the platform, and those who have omitted our statement denying authorship in their publications.
Furthermore, as of today, not a single graphic image has been published that shows the existence or nature of these damages. Until there is evidence, caution should be exercised before pointing fingers at groups that legitimately defend the territory.
In the absence of photos, one of the media outlets has even included a recreation using artificial intelligence (AI) of vandalistic acts in an idyllic vineyard setting, far away from the landscape of devastation that Agroparc currently represents.
Ten years of rigor against judicial intimidation
StopAgroparc has a 10-year trajectory based exclusively on scientific argumentation, social awareness, and legal action. We have never stepped outside the framework of democratic debate. Our tool is the law and technical rigor.
In contrast, the supposed "willingness to engage in dialogue" that the company claims in the statement contrasts with the reality that we, the entities of the platform, such as Naturalistes de Gelida or the Col·lectiu Bosc Verd, are experiencing. Instead of dialogue, we have received:
Intimidating burofaxes
Judicial citations.
SLAPP strategies, that is, the use of the courts to silence citizen criticism through economic and psychological pressure.
Irreversible destruction
While Ametller Origen focuses media attention on some fences or presumably broken wires, the works of the Agroparc continue to destroy the landscape at a frantic pace. They do so despite the technical reports from the Generalitat itself, which have classified the project as "critical" and "incompatible" with the survival of the Bonelli's eagle in Gelida.
We will not allow a media smoke screen to hide the true environmental assault that is being committed in our territory.
